Title: Rachet and Clank Up Your Arsenal
Platform: Playstation 2
Publisher: Sony
Difficulty: Medium to Hard
Review written by: Steph (Gamer122)

Remember last year when Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando came out? Yeah some of you still have it in your PS2 and your controller is embedded in your hands. Well there’s now a reason for you to take it out, it’s Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal!

Story line
The story line is simple and is heard over and over again in a verity of games. Your home planet is under attack and your planet’s protective force can’t handle the war making you the only one who can save the planet. However, in how many video games is the evil villain a robot tired of being controlled by humans and your ally is a washed-up hero who thinks he’s a monkey? Not many. Thus leading us to fact that UYA is full of humor.

Graphics
Remember, this is an Insomniac game. The graphics are going to be cartoony. We won’t be finding any breath taking scenes here but the graphics are far from being horrible. They’re as good as the graphics from the other R&C games. In other words, we are getting what is expected from the R&C team which is okay because the graphics are very well done. There’s a large amount of detail in every world you go to.

Sound
The sound is well done too. It’s not any Final Fantasy but it’s not Billy Hatcher or Rapsadey. The music is what is expected from the R&C team and resembles music from the past games.

Gameplay
The gameplay is excellent! Vets to the series will feel right at home. The control scheme matches the same scheme used in the past games. Remember the UYA is a fast paced platformer. There’s going to be a lot of jumping and timing. There are also plenty of different game styles to play. Just use your wrench to beat up enemies for pure hack ‘n’ slash fun. There’s still battles in outer space, battle arenas, and hover bike races. But that’s not all…

Innovation
Going Commando was full of wows and many thought the R&C team wouldn’t be able to make the game better but they did. UYA is full of even more wows than you can shake a stick at. There are even more levels featuring every bodies beloved robotic side-kick, Clank. You can unlock 2D side-scrolling shooters and go sky diving. You can play the game in three modes. A third-person mode (which is what the game is originally), a first-person mode, or lock-mode (this just means the camera will stay behind you).

Oh but that’s not all. What could make an already 10 out of 10 game even better? Multiplayer! Take Ratchet and Clank on-line in battles against other players. The skill points are still here so that means there’s plenty to unlock and do. The weapons upgrades are much faster now along with your health upgrades and your weapons can be upgraded more than once. The bolt multiplier is back too. Now, once you go to buy ammo, you can pick one button that will max out all of your ammo.

Replay Value
With three game modes, a verity of game styles, multiplayer, and skill points, your be coming back to UYA over and over again. Plus it’s just pure fun and full of humor.

The Good
One good thing about Ratchet and Clank series is that they don’t complete a plot thus allowing anyone to play any game in the series without being too confused but this isn’t recommended. UYA is difficult and you need the experience of the other games. Plus you will understand the plot and characters better if you have played Ratchet and Clank or Going Commando. Plus you will be able to bring weapons from the old games into UYA with your old saved data.

The Bad
Ummmmm…..uh….the only bad thing I found is the enemy A.I isn’t the best. Enemies will often get caught in their own traps or shoot each other but that doesn’t bring the difficulty level down at all and is far from being enough to pull the game down. It’s acutely quite funny!

It’s full of humor, fast, and has something for everyone. This is a MUST own for anyone PS2 owner or platformer lover. We’re not only looking at Platformer of the year here but also Game of the Year.

10 out of 10
